That is why Genesis Breast Screening is introducing GBS Mobile, an initiative designed to bring advanced 3D breast ultrasound screening to selected communities throughout the Tampa Bay area.
Through scheduled mobile screening events, GBS can provide its calm, patient-focused screening experience at approved clinical locations outside its main South Tampa center.
GBS Mobile is beginning with a confirmed events across various locations, while Genesis continues to evaluate interest in other communities.
What Is GBS Mobile?
GBS Mobile offers supplemental ABUS screening for eligible, asymptomatic women. ABUS does not replace mammography. Eligibility is determined under Genesis Breast Screening’s clinical protocol and may include women with dense breast tissue whose recent screening mammogram was normal or benign.

Breast Ultrasound Screening with Advanced 3D Technology
GBS Mobile uses Automated Breast Ultrasound, commonly known as ABUS, to produce detailed 3D images of breast tissue through a standardized ultrasound scanning process.
Unlike mammography, breast ultrasound does not use radiation. However, ABUS serves a different purpose and should not be presented as a replacement for mammography.
The FDA indication for automated breast ultrasound describes it as an adjunct to mammography for selected, asymptomatic women with dense breast tissue whose screening mammogram findings are normal or benign. View the FDA device information.
In simple terms, ABUS may provide an additional way to examine dense breast tissue when used alongside not instead of mammography.
Who May Be Considered for GBS Mobile Screening?
A GBS Mobile screening event may be appropriate for:
- Women 40+ who already get mammograms
- Women under 40
- High-risk women of any age
- Women who have been informed that they have dense breast tissue
- Women who have received normal or benign screening mammogram results
- Women who are seeking supplemental breast screening in addition to mammography

What to Expect at a GBS Mobile Event
GBS Mobile is designed to provide an organized, professional and patient-focused experience.
1. Schedule online
Choose an available date and time through the event’s online appointment calendar. Only appointments for the selected mobile event will be displayed.
2. Receive confirmation
After booking, a confirmation email will be sent with date, time and other important instructions.
3. Arrive at the event location
Patients should arrive at the confirmed clinical location according to the instructions included with their appointment.
4. Complete the payment
Make the payment through the link in the text message if not paid earlier.
5. Complete the screening
A trained ultrasound professional will perform the standardized breast ultrasound scan. The procedure uses ultrasound technology and does not involve radiation.
6. Radiologist review
The images will be reviewed according to the Genesis Breast Screening clinical process, and information about results and next steps will be communicated as applicable.
